Psychosis

Psychosis is a 26 page psychological horror comic about a therapist named Graham finding himself contracting his patient Amara’s night terrors about her past trauma. This comic delves into the harrowing landscape of unresolved trauma, persuasive paranoia, and the insidious grip of alcoholism. Through the medium of sequential art I’m confronting these often taboo subjects with unflinching honesty.

Graham's relatable domesticity—ordinary clothes, everyday settings—grounds the story, fostering empathy. The artistic process, from traditional inking for unfiltered emotion to digital coloring, translates complex feelings visually. Inspired by Silent Hill 2's unsettling atmosphere and symbolic monsters, the comic mirrors paranoia's disorienting nature, a metaphor that our trauma is always with us even as we grow.

My work is not merely depicticing angst, but to foster a dialogue about the complexities of mental health and the human capacity for resilience. By visually articulating the intangible, I hope to provide the readers with a chance to confront their own experiences, or to step into the shoes of another, fostering a sense of shared humanity. Ultimately, this comic is an invitation to acknowledge and confront the darkness that can reside within us, and to recognize the importance of open and honest conversations about mental well-being.
