A Couple Unacknowledged Rumors (You Didn’t Hear Them From Me)

This body of work is literally a body that works—the gendered, laboring figures of coal miners & ballerinas are one in the same. To escape their prisons of the mine and the stage, it requires effort and movement. Through dance or swing of the pick, they have to work together to earn their freedom.

I use the sound of my voice as instruction & space as material to encourage audience interaction and performance. If you stop for a moment, you would understand that transitory spaces & the invisible world are constantly talking to you. I want you to listen.

Bio

Stan Lambert was raised in Memphis, TN, surrounded by ballet, blues & soul, and bad math grades. After high school, they found themself at Maine College of Art & Design, where they first pursued an illustration degree before switching to sculpture. When they are not making art, they are reading old science fiction novels, trying to wrap their brain around theoretical physics, or daydreaming of becoming a mailman.
