Lux, Lucida, Luminosa (Light, Bright, Luminous)
Lux, Lucida, Luminosa examines the transformative process of photography, light, and memory, investigating the physical and metaphorical transitions from subject to image, dark to light, and experience to memory. Through the subject of trees and natural elements, the work seeks to understand the interconnection and mimesis between humans and the landscape. Through the use of alchemical transformation and darkroom magic, natural forms become metaphors for the body, where trees, roots, and branches mirror human anatomy, reinforcing the idea that humans and the landscape are inseparable. The tree within the image is more than a tree; it is, I, the photographer but also, you, the viewer. I stand witness to the tree’s existence as they are standing witness to mine. You, the viewer, are standing witness to both.
