Isabella Hendry

The term “focus” translates to the Latin word for hearth—symbolizing warmth, intimacy, and the essence of connectivity through light. I am a painter who views the canvas as a portal, a window into often overlooked moments. I use that window as a formal element to express the possibilities of an unveiled human experience. Together through color, form, and scale the intimacy of each painting invites the viewer to pause, step back from the noise, and engage with the raw experience that lies beneath the surface of oils and linen. The link between environments and the figure forms ambiguous narratives strung together by the viewer to explore the interplay of light, form, and feeling. Sparking connections that fosters a deeper understanding of our experiences and community.
