Choking Hazard

Choking Hazard is a thriller comic set in a small Alaskan town during the winter. The story follows Harper, a woman in her early twenties and the last person to see her neighbor alive. As she’s thrust into the investigation, she starts to suspect the killer is even closer to home than she realized. The narrative speaks on the unfortunate reality of corruption that exists in systems of power, especially in those that are intended to deliver justice. The story encourages viewers to question how power can be wielded by an institution to shield itself and obfuscate blame. The narrative does this by exposing an internal contradiction with the information the audience has access to compared to the story’s characters. It engages it's reader in a thrilling murder mystery narrative while encouraging skepticism and critique towards those who claim to be enforcers of justice.
