Ava’s New Years Eve
Memory, family, and fun. These are the three words I use to describe my Thesis. Being inspired by diary’s, scrapbooks, and comic work has led me to create one of my biggest projects. Ava’s New Years Break follows my family and I traveling to a resort for new years. The book features events that happened during the trip cataloged and illustrated in a way that anyone can pick it up. Using creative drawings and childfriendly comedic writing, I have created a mock up for a book that may be real someday. From adults to children I hope you enjoy reading this mock up.
Bio
My work is all about collective experiences, community, and relationships. The beauty of relationships, friendships, and kindness is all themes I explore through my work. I have dabbled in many mediums, but my love is in acrylic paint markers. All my pieces, in some way, are created traditionally. To me, there’s nothing more rewarding than being able to feel something being created from the ground up. Many of my pieces are bright both in theme and color, partly due to the nature of the markers, but I also feel that, as an artist, I want to put out the energy I want in the world. A lot of my pieces are inspired by the business experiences I’ve had at a Waterpark my grandfather owns. It’s in a very low-income town, but it brings the community together, which I wasn’t expecting to bring to my work. With that, a lot of my work is for everyone, child or adult. From my character and comic work to my more refined illustrated type, I want there to be something for everyone. I hope my work resonates with you.
