Ashley Pelletier

Internal Ethereal Beauty & Power

Misinformation and disinformation are everywhere. It is nearly impossible to get through the day without being subjected to some form of falsehood. People will misinterpret, misunderstand, and misremember things. Blatant lies are told, truths are concealed, and realities are skewed. On occasion, these lies are so bad that it is laughable, and sometimes the truth is so outrageous that you refuse to believe it. Many people end up not even questioning the things they are being told, trusting anything that looks or sounds like it might be true.

This collection of four books explores misinformation by referencing traditionally trusted sources, such as old recipes and botanical journals. I manipulate truths to create my own misinformation. Through humorous imagery and writing, I aim to get the audience to consider the information, recognizing blatant falsities while also being tricked by some, or not believing the truthful aspects throughout. Creating this confusion mimics how difficult is is to navigate the information of the real world.

Bio

Ashley Pelletier is an emerging printmaker from Massahusetts, currently working out of Maine. She earned a BFA in Printmaking from Maine College of Art & Design in May of 2025.
Pelletier experiments with color and scale, with an interest in etching, reductive relief prints and letterpress. Alongside this group of techniques she is also interested in bookbinding and papermaking.

Her work often combines these skills to make finished pieces that demonstrate her understanding of many parts of the craft at once.
