Always Leave Room for Wonder
Driven by the desire to inspire wonder through simple actions, I create objects and jewelry where participants can cherish the act of pausing from daily activity to play and interact with objects and each other. My thesis, Always Leave Room for Wonder, investigates the importance of play in our daily lives through single and multi-person physically cooperative games. Play is an innate human skill learned at a young age alongside the development of other vital skills and human characteristics that are key for survival and essential to the human experience. I explore play as a survival tactic, diving into its necessity in daily life. As our monotonous daily lives consume us more and more, it is imperative to cherish the simple action of play as a way to reconnect with others around us. Play is just as integral a piece of life as an adult as it is for a child. For this reason I utilize the childlike wonder of playing a mind-bending game as an avenue to leave my audience with a sense of joy and a deeper connection to their sense of playfulness. Remember to Always Leave Room for Wonder.
